Just minutes from the tip of Punta Nizuc in Cancún are several interesting Mayan ruins known as El Rey. They are named after the masks found here that are believed to be dedicated to the sun god. Known as El Rey Ruins (Las Ruinas del Rey), the site contains the remains of about 47 buildings, along with numerous tombs built by the Mayans after 900 AD. Of particular interest are the two main platforms with the market and the temples that are part of the important ceremonial area. It’s worth a visit, and many of the resorts are also famous for their large colonies of iguanas.

Another place closely related to Cancún is the lovely Isla Mujeres (Women’s Island). About 13 kilometers from the mainland and a short hydrofoil ride from the pier of the Convention Center (Cancun Centre), this long, dry island is only 7 kilometers long and 650 meters wide. It’s especially popular with more experienced surfers riding bigger waves. Divers love the rich marine life that surrounds the numerous coral reefs. In the center of Cancún, the city’s large convention complex, the Museo Maya de Cancún is worth learning more about the region’s rich history. The museum is the largest since the opening of Mexico City’s Templo Mayor Museum in 1987, and it explains the ancient roots of Mayan culture from centuries to the present.

Mayan Ruins Exploration: Chichén Itzá and Tulum Excursion

Cancun is actually made up of many beaches, and the average visitor may have a preference, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Among the most popular playas are de las Peras , Juventus , Linda , Langosta , Tortugas , Caracol , and Chac -Mall , some with Boulevard Cancún and Paseo Kukulkan with city boundaries (of these, Tortugas, Caracol and Chac- It tends to be the busiest of the mools). There is also a 7km radius of Paseo Kukulkán, next to it is an 18-hole public golf course called Pok-ta-Pok.
